Cílem akce byla konzultace významu a metodiky výrobně-technologických analýz pro funkční interpretaci, chronologii a prostorové rozšíření raně středověkého šperku a oděvních součástí ve střední Evropě. Detailní znalost výrobního postupu a použitých materiálů vypovídá o kvalitě artefaktu a je možné ji využít pro specifikaci regionálních nebo dílenských variant. Následně lze sledovat časový a prostorový vývoj šperku. Přeneseně je možné výsledky aplikovat na výzkum distribuce elitních předmětů a napojení Čech a Moravy na regionální i nadregionální diplomacii a obchod. Dále je možné efektivněji sledovat síť elitních oikumen, úroveň jejich centrality a návaznost např. na dálkové obchodní trasy.

The aim of the workshop was to discuss the meaning and methodology of production-technological analyses for the functional interpretation, chronology and spatial distribution of early medieval jewellery and dress accessories in Central Europe. Detailed knowledge of the production process and the materials used tells about the quality of the artefact and can be used to specify regional or workshop variants. Subsequently, the temporal and spatial development of the jewellery can be followed. Transferred, it is possible to apply the results to research on the distribution of elite subjects and the connection of Bohemia and Moravia to regional and supra-regional diplomacy and trade. Furthermore, it is possible to more efficiently monitor the network of elite oikumen, the level of their centrality and the continuity, for example, with long-distance trade routes.
