We present a compact frequency stabilized laser system lasing at 633 nm, based on distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) diode laser, referenced to molecular iodine. The system delivers an output power of 6,5 mW in single-mode polarization-maintaining fiber, an optical frequency tuning range of 0.5 nm, and high-frequency modulation capability. The experimental investigation revealed the relative frequency stability down to 3 × 10-10. The system also offers inherent traceability to the fundamental definition of the SI meter. It can serve as an alternative laser source to the He-Ne lasers in fundamental research, applied metrology and industry.
