The program for reconstruction of surface layers on the basis of data from the 3D X-ray profilometer „StratiReco“ is designed to measure the thickness of thin layers on a massive substrate - especially with regard to the analysis of wooden panel paintings. For the actual measurement, data from a stratigraphic scanner is used, which scans the artwork under examination using the sharp edge of the X-ray beam. The graphical user interface (GUI) of StratiReco is interactively controlled by the user. Basic reconstruction parameters and information about the position of the area under study are obtained from the StratiScan program, which controls the 3D X-ray profilometer and measures the distance between the camera and the area under analysis using a laser. In addition to stratigraphic information, StratiReco can also provide basic X-ray fluorescence analysis data
