Text popisuje dějiny Královské zahrady na Pražském hradě od jejího založení Ferdinandem I., jejími funkcemi za Rudolfa II., barokní obnovou až do její proměny v romantizujícím duchu kolem roku 1800. Věnuje se jednotlivým jejím aspektům v širokém kontextu. Cituje archivní prameny týkající se její dendrologické náplně, staveb (míčovna, oranžerie) i osobností zahradníků, ale nevynechává ani menažerii ve Lvím dvoře či voliéry. Nově představuje tři generace barokních zahradníků Zinnerů, jejich vídeňský původ a východiska, a popisuje také dnes zaniklou barokní podobu zahrady, kterou Zinnerové vytvořili.

The text describes the history of the Royal Garden at Prague Castle from its founding by Ferdinand I, through its functions under Rudolf II, its Baroque restoration until its transformation in a Romantic spirit around 1800. It focuses on its various aspects in a broad context. He cites archival sources concerning its dendrological content, buildings (ballroom, orangery) and the personalities of its gardeners, but does not omit the menagerie in the Lion's Court or the aviaries. It also presents the three generations of Baroque gardeners, the Zinners, their Viennese origins and background, and describes the now defunct Baroque form of the garden that the Zinners created.
