Článek se zabývá postavením substantiva mantl (z německého Mantel) a jeho odvozenin na periferii českého lexikálního systému. Autor upozorňuje na nově zjištěný význam, zaznamenaný v lidové písni z konce 18. století. Zdánlivě disparátní významové spektrum tohoto lexému (,plášť‘, ,pletichy‘, ,nemanželské dítě‘) je dáno opakovaným diskontinuitním přejetím slova z němčiny do češtiny, pokaždé v jiném významu.
The article deals with the position of the noun mantl (from the German Mantel) and its derivatives on the periphery of the Czech lexical system. The author points out a new discovered meaning recorded in a folk song from the late 18th century. The seemingly disparate semantic spectrum of the lexeme ('coat', 'intrigues, 'illegitimate child') is caused by its repeated discontinuous borrowing from German, each time in a different meaning.
