The technical solution relates to an field-emission microscope designed for the analysis of probe tips for scanning probe microscopes. At present, there is no device to characterise the quality of probes for scanning probe microscopes or to compare them directly other than by direct use in the microscope itself. Existing SPM microscopes do not compare or characterise the probes in any way and microscope users are directly dependent on the quality of the probes, which is guaranteed by the manufacturer. The uncertainty in the repeatability of the production of the probes therefore leads directly to variations in the quality of the function of the scanning probe microscope, which is determined primarily by the probe itself. The above drawbacks of the state of the art are addressed by the presented technical solution, which allows the analysis of the tip probes based on the combination of the measurement of the autoemission current from the SPM probes and from the testing of the measured characteristics.
