Vladimír Urbánek situuje Válkovy studie věnované Komenskému do kontextu prací “druhé generace” poválečné české komeniologie a sleduje proměny jeho interpretace Komenského od analýzy jeho sociálního a politického myšlení, přes badatelský zájem o revelace a náboženské myšlení, až po pokus interpretovat klíčové myšlenkové struktury Komenského díla, včetně jejich začlenění do širších koordinát raně novověkých kulturních a intelektuálních dějin. Urbánek rovněž detailně sleduje konceptuální impulsy, jež Válka zformuloval na základě četby děl Michela Foucaulta, zároveň však zaznamenává paralely s interpretacemi Roberta Evanse, inspiraci idejemi Leszka Kołakowského a polemiky s Robertem Kalivodou. To vše, podle autora kapitoly, přispělo k formulaci Válkových originálních interpretací Komenského myšlení v kontextech nadkonfesijního křesťanství, konfrontace s kartesianismem a srážky s raným osvícenstvím.

Vladimír Urbánek places Válka’s Comenius studies in the context of the work of the “second generation” of post-war Czech Comeniologists and traces the shifts in his interpretations of Jan Amos Comenius from the analysis of his social and political thought to research interest in revelations and religious thinking, and an attempt at interpreting the crucial thought structures of Comenius’ work, including its inclusion in the wider coordinates of the cultural and intellectual history of the early modern period. Urbánek also follows in detail the conceptual impulses which Válka formulated based on reading the works of Michel Foucault, yet at the same time notes parallels with the interpretations of Robert Evans, inspiration drawn from the ideas of Leszek Kołakowski and polemics with Robert Kalivoda. All this, in Urbánek’s judgment, helped Válka to formulate his original interpretations of Comenius’ thought in the broader contexts of the concept of supra-denominational Christianity, the confrontation with Cartesianism and the critical clash with the early Enlightenment.
