Článek pojednává o souvislosti mezi střevním mikrobiomem a imunitním systémem. Jedná se o komplexní shrnutí dosavadních znalostí popisující vývoj imunitního systému v kontextu mikrobiálního prostředí a dále potom souvislost mezi (především) střevním mikrobiomem a přirozenou a adaptivní imunitou. Shrnuje také jednotlivé mikrobiální složky a metabolity, které se těchto interakcí účastní. V neposlední řadě popisuje podíl nerovnováhy střevního mikrobiomu na rozvoji nejrůznějších onemocnění a potencionální terapeutické možnosti.

The article describes the connections between the gut microbiome and the immune system. It is a comprehensive summary of the recent knowledge on the influence of the microbiome on immune system development and the relationship between the microbiome and innate and adaptive immunity. It also summarizes the microbial structures and metabolites that participate in these interactions. The article describes the contribution of the gut microbiome in the pathogenesis of various disorders and potential therapeutical approaches.
