Sultanát Johor v Malajsii se stal jednou ze zastávek na cestě Františka Ferdinanda d'Este kolem světa (15. prosince 1892 - 18. října 1893). Během této návštěvy byl arcivévodovi udělen Nejvznešenější řád královské rodiny Johoru (zavedený sultánem Abu Bakarem v roce 1886), jak dokládá certifikát z roku 1894 a neúplná sada insignií řádu uložená ve sbírkách Národního muzea. Článek shrnuje informace o řádu i o osobnosti sultána Abú Bakara a jeho zemi. Vzhledem k tomu, že dosavadní literatura není k tématu udělování tohoto řádu jednotná, datovaná listina významně přispívá k našemu poznání.

The Johore Sultanate in Malaysia became one of the stops on Franz Ferdinand’s journey around the world (15th December 1892 – 18th October 1893). During this visit, the Archduke was conferred with the Most Esteemed Royal Family Order of Johor (introduced by the Sultan Abu Bakar in 1886), as attested by a certificate dated to 1894, and an incomplete set of insignia of the Order which have survived in the collection of the National Museum. The article summarizes the information on the Order as well as about the personality of Sultan Abu Bakar, and his country. Since the current literature is not consistent about the granting of this Order, the dated certificate provides an important contribution to our knowledge on this subject.
