společnosti rozvinula diskuse o významu slovanství a o moderních přístupech
The Brno Slavic School has a tradition that dates back to the year of the founding
of Masaryk University. Part of this tradition was the work of historian Josef
Macůrek at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. However, it did not begin
until the mid-1930s, when Macůrek was approved by the Ministry of Education
and National Enlightenment as the first associate professor for the history
of Slavic nations in Brno. However, the university has been applying for this
position since its inception, the proposal for the kindergarten was submitted
together with the first proposals concerning the filling of chairs at the Faculty of
Arts. The performance will explain the vicissitudes that caused the sixteen-year
delay. However, it will mainly be a matter of clarifying from which point of view Josef Macůrek observed Slavism and how it differed from the then usual
conception of the so-called Prague school (Jaroslav Bidlo, Milada Paulová). Last
but not least, the paper touches on the fact that shortly after World War II,
a discussion developed in Czechoslovak society about the importance of Slavism
and modern approaches to its study. At that time, Josef Macůrek, together
with Frank Wollman, organized several conferences focused on this topic and,
together with him, edited two proceedings, in which they clearly expressed
a modern view of Slavism and Slavic studies in the Czechoslovak area.
