Historická rusistika patří k tradičním disciplínám moderní české historiografie. Od samotného počátku je ovšem propojena s tematicky i metodologicky širší historickou slavistikou. Cílem studie je upozornit na pozitivní tematické a metodologické vzory, které pak česká historická rusistika uplatnila nebo mohla uplatnit po roce 1989. Jde ovšem i o to připomenout negativní kroky, např. rušení pracovišť specializujících se na ruské prostředí. Práce se soustředí na monografická zpracování, na jejichž bázi ukazuje proměny tematického a metodologického zaměření. Opírá se o tvorbu konkrétních českých historiků a upozorňuje na její vlivy pro další profilování oboru.

Historical Russian Studies is a traditional discipline within modern Czech historiography. From its very beginning, however, it has been linked to Historical Slavic Studies, which is broader in terms of topic and methodology. The objective of this study is to note the positive topical and methodological models which Czech Historical Russian Studies applied, or was able to apply subsequent to 1989. It also, however, aims to look at negative steps, such as the cancellation of branches specialising in the Russian environment. The study focuses on a monographic treatment, used to demonstrate changes in topic and methodology focus. It relies on the work of specific Czech historians and notes their influences for further profiling of the field.
