The workshop explored the impact of food shortage on the post-imperial transformation of East-Central Europe after the First World War. Individual papers focused on the role that lack of food played in domestic and international politics as well as in expert and political discourses. It scrutinized changing economic and cultural value of food and pointed out to individual agencies as well as collective strategies in making of a new order.
