A simple physical concept is presented for describing the bubble formation process which involves bubble growth, bubble rise, bubble detachment, bubble deformation. The following three effects are taken into account: buoyancy, inertia, elasticity. The energy conservation during the detachment is used to find the relation between the resulting bubble shape and the bubble Weber number. The following bubble shapes were analysed: oblate spheroid, prolate spheroid, spherical cap, lens shape. The results obtained are compared with the literature.
