Analysing the vertical distribution of atmospheric
aerosols is important to fully describe the effect of
aerosol on human health, characterize the local and
regional sources, and better evaluate the regional
climate forcing (Singh et al 2018). Due to a limited
    number of tall-tower atmospheric observational
platforms, there is a distinct lack of studies investigating
the vertical distribution of carbonaceous aerosols based
on continuous long-term in-situ measurements. This
study will be to our knowledge the first of its kind to
characterize the variability and sources of vertically
distributed carbonaceous aerosols at a rural background
    site in Central Europe.
