V souvislosti s nedávným ukončením projektu „Historické dřevěné konstrukce: typologie, diagnostika a tradiční opracování dřeva“ podpořeného Ministerstvem kultury ČR v rámci programu NAKI se nabízí nad ním zpětně ohlédnout a zdůraznit jeho výzkumný, ale i společenský přínos. U čistě výzkumných projektů je často přínosem něco nového vyzkoumat, poznat či vyvinout, u projektů tohoto typu jde však i o přínos kulturně identitní, protože zacházení s materiály může být geograficky svázáno s místní kulturou, etnikem či jazykovou skupinou. Takovým přínosem byla např. výstava umístěná v prostorách Panské sýpky v Dřevěném městečku Valašského muzea v přírodě v Rožnově pod Radhoštěm realizována výstava „Pod ochranou sv. Josefa. Příběh tesařského řemesla v českých zemích“. Výstava je vedle např. vědeckých publikací a příspěvků, metodiky, památkových postupů, knihy a aplikace mapující dřevěné konstrukce v ČR, významným výstupem pětiletého projektu a do jisté míry i završením dílčích cílů již mnohaleté výzkumné spolupráce institucí, jejímž cílem je zejména kritický rozbor postupů od výběru dříví po ruční opracování a úpravy povrchu užívaných při řemeslném opracování dřeva a při navrhování tradičních tesařských konstrukcí a z tohoto rozboru vycházejících návrhů pro údržbu, opravy a restaurování historických dřevěných objektů.


In relation to the recent completion of project "Historical timber structures: typology, diagnostics and traditional woodworking", supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic within the NAKI programme, it is worth looking back and emphasising its contributions as regards research and society. In projects that purely focus on research, the benefit is often to explore something, learn or develop something new; however, in a project of the type evaluated, there are also contributions related to cultural identity, as the treatment of materials may be geographically related to a local culture, ethnicity or language group. Such a contribution was, for example, the exhibition „Under the Protection of St. Joseph. The Story of the Carpentry Craft in the Czech Lands“. The exhibition was located in the Granary of the Wallachian Open Air Museum. Besides scientific publications and contributions, methodologies, monument treatment procedures, books and an application mapping timber structure in the Czech Republic, the exhibition is a significant outcome of the five-year project and to some extent a culmination of partial objectives of the long-standing research cooperation between institutions. The project focused on a critical analysis of the procedures from the selection of wood to manual processing and surface treatment used in the woodworking and the design of traditional carpentry structures; in particular, based on the analysis, the project aimed to provide proposals for the maintenance, repair and restoration of historic timber structures.
