V predloženej štúdii sa zameriavam na spoločnú prácu bulharského politológa Ivana Krasteva a amerického právno- a politickovedného experta Stephena Holmesa Svetlo, ktoré pohaslo: Vyúčtovanie (2020), v ktorej venujú rozsiahly priestor práve problematike imitácie. Pre účely mojej analýzy je však dôležitá predovšetkým ich kritika tzv. „novej nemeckej ideológie“, ktorá je podľa nich problematická vo viacerých ohľadoch. Nemenej problematická sa však zdá i Krastevova a Holmesova analýza, na čo upozorňujem v závere prvej časti textu (I.). Vyjadrujem tam pochybnosť, či „nemeckej ceste“ k demokracii skutočne chýba (normatívna) relevantnosť vo vzťahu k východnej časti Európskej únie, tak, ako to naznačujú zmienení autori. Nepochybne však určitá kritika a korektúra, respektíve doplnenie, je namieste. Tomu sa budem venovať v druhej časti, v ktorej predsa len uznám časť Krastevových a Holmesových argumentov a zdôrazním nutnosť revidovať radikálnu kritiku metodologického nacionalizmu (II.). Ako však uvediem následne, takáto žiadúca metodologická opatrnosť už u niektorých súčasných kritických teoretikov prítomná je, zvlášť v honnethovskej verzii kritickej teórie. V záverečných dvoch častiach sa následne pokúsim načrtnúť akúsi „tretiu cestu“, využijúc teóriu spravodlivosti Axela Honnetha, a tiež texty Gerarda Delantyho (III.) a Hansa-Herberta Köglera (IV.), vedenú snahou prispieť k intra- a inter-kultúrnemu zmiereniu, či aspoň otupeniu tých najostrejších pozícií: tak v rámci jednotlivých štátov medzi rôznymi verziami východoeurópskych „slavianofilov“ a „západniarov“, ako aj medzi tzv. „starými“ členskými štátmi Európskej únie a „novými“ členským štátmi, kde stále vznikajú nové a nové diskrepancie, ktoré môžu od určitého bodu narušiť celkovú jednotu Európskej únie. Takýto žiaduci prístup spočíva v „civilizačnej“ aktualizácii kritickej hermeneutiky.

In the present study, I focus on the joint work of Bulgarian political scientist Ivan Krastev and American legal and political science expert Stephen Holmes, The Light that Failed: A Reckoning (2020), in which they devote extensive space to the issue of imitation. However, for the purposes of my analysis, their critique of the so-called „new German ideology“, which they find problematic in a number of ways, is particularly important. However, Krastev and Holmes’s analysis seems equally problematic, as I point out at the end of the first part of the text (I.). There I express my doubt whether the „German way“ to democracy really lacks (normative) relevance in relation to the eastern part of the European Union, as suggested by the aforementioned authors. However, some criticism and correction, or additions, are undoubtedly in order. I will address this in Part II, in which I will nevertheless acknowledge some of Krastev’s and Holmes’s arguments and stress the need to revise the radical critique of methodological nationalism (II). However, as I will show subsequently, such a desirable methodological caution is already present in some contemporary critical theorists, especially in the Honnethian version of critical theory. In the final two sections, I will then attempt to sketch a kind of „third way“, using Axel Honneth’s theory of justice, and also the texts of Gerard Delanty (III) and Hans-Herbert Kögler (IV), guided by the desire to contribute to intra- and inter-cultural reconciliation, or at least to blunt the most acrimonious positions: both within individual states between different versions of Eastern European „Slavophiles“ and „Westerners“, and between the „old“ Member States of the European Union and the „new“ Member States, where new and new discrepancies are constantly emerging, which may, from a certain point onwards, undermine the overall unity of the European Union. Such a desirable approach consists in a „civilisational“ updating of critical hermeneutics.
