The biomedical potential of silicon-vacancy (SiV) color centers in diamonds as active sensor layer is of scientific interest. We compare seeding densities on bare Si and oxygen terminated Si substrates by hydrogen-terminated 2 nm detonation nanodiamonds and the method's reproducibility to grow thin and closed nanocrystalline diamond films with active silicon vacancy centers. We present the potential of the bonded FBS and BSA molecules for biosensing by changes induced in the SiV photoluminescence spectra.
