    Professor Eduard Hála was an excellent Czech physical chemist and chemical engineer, world-renowned mainly for his fundamental work in the field of vapour–liquid equilibria,
    a great teacher, and a great personality known to the global scientific and chemical engineering community. He contributed significantly to the development of phase equilibria
    worldwide. He was a Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Institute of Chemical Technology Prague (now The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague), member of the
    Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, and the deputy director of the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS.
