Kniha se zaměřuje na profesory pražské univerzity od 50. letech 15. století po rok 1622. Zkoumá terminologické souvislosti, předpoklady nástupu na univerzitu, sociální, geografickou, národnostní či konfesijní skladbu vyučujících, jejich vzdělanostní curricula, pedagogické i další působení na univerzitě, každodennost profesorů a jejich paralelní či následné kariéry, jejich knihovny, literární činnost, různé formy mecenátu či kontakty s evropskou obcí učenců. Součástí monografie jsou také biogramy.

The book focuses on the professors of the University of Prague from the 1550s to 1622. It examines the terminological context, the prerequisites for entering the university, the social, geographical, national or confessional composition of the professors, their educational curricula, their pedagogical and other activities at the university, the everyday life of the professors and their parallel or subsequent careers, their libraries, literary activities, various forms of patronage and contacts with the European community of scholars. The monograph also includes biographies.
