Recenzovaná práce na otázku, zda Máj je básní o lásce, odpovídá kladně, ale v tom smyslu, že báseň líčí člověka jako bytost toužící niterně po lásce, ale lásku ve světě nenacházející. Originální je její teze, že tématem básně není jen láska milenecká (první zpěv), ale i láska otcovská (druhý zpěv) a mateřská, resp. láska matky přírody k člověku (třetí zpěv). Originálně analyzuje i čtvrtý zpěv Máje, za jehož hlavní téma považuje napětí mezi lidským srdcem toužícím po lásce a chladným světem. Zdroje Máchovy metaforiky nachází v přirozeném jazyce a Máchovy metafory považuje za pokus být poznáním skutečnosti. Přestože vytýká recenzované práci i určité nedostatky, hodnotí ji jako přínosné dílo.

The peer-reviewed work on the question of whether May is a poem about love answers in the affirmative, but in the sense that the poem depicts man as a being longing inwardly for love, but not finding love in the world. The thesis is original that the theme of the poem is not only love between a man and a woman (first song), but also fatherly love (second song) and motherly, respectively mother Nature’s love for man (third song). Originally, he also analyzes the fourth song of May, whose main theme he considers the tension between the human heart longing for love and the cold world. He finds the sources of Macha’s metaphorics in natural language and considers Macha’s metaphors an attempt to be knowledge of reality. Although he criticizes the reviewed work and certain shortcomings, he evaluates it as a beneficial work.
