Text je recenzí rozsáhlé edice literárně kritických statí předního představitele české literární moderny Arnošta Procházky (1869–1925). Zkoumá, jak editor Luboš Merhaut pojímá Procházkův literárně kritický styl, jak periodizuje jeho literárně kritickou tvorbu a jak definuje jeho pozici v dějinách české literární kritiky. Recenze akcentuje zejména skutečnost, že editor pokryl svým výborem nejen etapu, kdy se Procházka podílel na prosazování nové modernistické poetiky, ale také pozdější období, kdy už byly jeho kdysi inovativní estetické názory konfrontovány s další, poválečnou vlnou uměleckých stylů. Tato část Procházkovy tvorby, kterou nechávala literární věda při studiu Procházkových textů dosud stranou, odhaluje zajímavé konkurenční procesy uvnitř literárního pole v okamžiku střídání estetických inovací.

The text is a review of a comprehensive edition of literary critical articles by the leading representative of Czech literary modernism, Arnošt Procházka (1869–1925). It examines how editor Luboš Merhaut conceives Procházka’s literary critical style, how he periodizes his literary critical work and how he defines his position in the history of Czech literary criticism. The review emphasizes the fact that the editor covered not only the stage when Procházka participated in promoting the new modernist poetics, but also the later period when his once innovative aesthetic views were confronted with a new wave of poetic styles. This part of Procházka’s work, which has been left aside by literary science so far, reveals interesting competitive processes within the literary field at the moment of alternating aesthetic innovations.
