Zapomenutá sbírka fotografií odhaluje unikátní pohled do společenství, které vzniklo v ateliéru jednoho z největších architektů 20. století – Le Corbusiera. Galaxie Le Corbusier zve čtenáře do zákulisí dějin moderní architektury. Autorka Martina Hrabová představuje soubor doposud neznámých a nepublikovaných fotografií, který v roce 2016 objevila v ášramu Šrí Aurobinda v indickém Pondicherry. V krabici od doutníků z Madrasu zde v roce 1942 zanechal své soukromé fotografie jeden z nejbližších Le Corbusierových spolupracovníků z počátku třicátých let 20. století, český architekt František Sammer (1907–1973). Kniha přináší intimní portrét u nás málo známého architekta a představuje jej v mezinárodním kontextu. Zároveň odkrývá hodnotu přátelství a osobních vazeb, které přetrvaly i v časech velkých krizí světových dějin. Autorka tak zcela novým způsobem uvádí čtenáře do světa významných postav moderní architektury.

The Le Corbusier Galaxy: The Photograph Collection of František Sammer invites the reader behind the scenes of the history of modernist architecture. The book provides a novel and compelling view of a larger community that gradually formed in the studio of Le Corbusier – one of the greatest architects of the 20th century. In order to study the dynamics of the community, the author set out to decipher and interpret a collection of recently unearthed, and hitherto unpublished photographs from the 1930's. She had discovered the collection in an unlikely location – the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry. In 1942, its then resident and one of Le Corbusier's closest assistants from the 1930's, the Czech architect František Sammer (1907-1973), volunteered to join the British army. He left behind his personal collection of photographs for safekeeping in the ashram, its contents hidden inside a box from Madras cigars. The book draws an intimate portrait of Sammer in the context of great works by the internationally renowned artists. It reveals the importance and value of friendship as a leitmotif in creative work and later, in the survival of personal ties in the post-war period.
