Scintillator is a functional luminescence material which can convert high-energy photons or particles such as X/gamma-ray or electron/proton beams, respectively, into the ultraviolet or visible light. There are many different kinds of scintillating materials based on gas, liquid, or solid matter. Scintillation materials have been applied in a number of scientific, medical, safety, and industrial fields. Each application field requires tailored scintillators with specific parameters of prime importance.
