René Descartes je původcem protikladu duše a těla v novověké filosofii. Konference byla věnována filosofům, kteří na Descartův návrh, jak tento problém řešit, reagovali a řešili jej po svém. Zvláštní pozornost byla věnována Thomasu Hobbesovi, Baruchu Spinozovi, Johnu Lockovi, Gottfriedu Wilhelmu Leibnizovi, Immanuelu Kantovi, Friedrichu Wilhelmu Josephu Schellingovi a Emmanuelu Levinasovi.
René Descartes was the first to formulate the opposition between the soul and the body in Modern philosophy. This conference was dedicated to philosophers who reacted to Descartes’s proposal of a solution to this problem and addressed the issue in their own way. Special attention was paid to Thomas Hobbes, Baruch Spinoza, John Locke, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz, Immanuel Kant, Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph Schelling, and Emmanuel Levinas.
