The text is a detailed review of the book by Dirk Jacob Jansen, Jacopo Strada and Cultural Patronage at the Imperial Court: Antique as Innovation (Brill Publishing house, 2018). Some of Jansen's conclusions concerning his architectural projects are disputed, especially Strada‘s contribution to the Vienna Stallburg or the Imperial Hall in Bučovice Castle.
