The study presents preliminary results in the analysis of the research funding system of Czech Republic. In this first iteration, the Palma ratio is used to measure funding concentrations on five dimensions: time (2010 - 2020), individual and organizational distribution funding, disciplinary dimension (STEM, social sciences and humanities). In the context of the debate on funding concentrations, the study is the groundwork for a systematic approach in measuring and comparing various funding systems. Considering applied methodology, we are concluding that use of the Palma index offers a way to assess structure and change of funding concentrations.
