In this paper, pure hydroxyapatite suspension was produced via wet chemical synthesis method. Using a hybrid water-stabilized torch, a series of HA coatings was then produced on Ti6Al4V substrates and their properties were characterized via SEM, EDX and XRD techniques. After the deposition, the amorphous phase content reached 6-10% and the coatings retained 75-82% of crystalline HA phase. Their thickness reached as much as 145 μm, i.e., suitable for bio-applications. Additionally, a set of HA coatings was prepared with pure metallic Ag content. For the first time, these formed via in-situ chemical decomposition of AgNO3 added into the suspension. The Ag was dispersed evenly within the coatings and its total content reached 8 wt.%. Such result presents a promising step forward in the hard tissue replacement research.
