Kniha v návaznosti na nejnovější zahraniční diskusi o dějinách kulturní výměny ukazuje, jak se v českém prostředí prosazoval specifický model vzdělanosti založený na luteránské teologii, který si osvojili čeští studenti na univerzitě ve Wittenbergu. Kromě sdílených čtenářských a literárních postupů tento model zahrnoval také propracovaný soubor představ o stvořeném světě, jeho fungování a významech. Autorka sleduje jeho adaptaci v latinské, německy i česky psané produkci. Věnuje pozornost také novým funkcím, které wittenberské vědění o stvořeném světě mohlo plnit, ať již v rámci výuky na pražské univerzitě a v městském školství nebo v souvislosti s legitimizací sociální nerovnosti a tzv. sociální disciplinací.

Developing the most recent conceptual frameworks disussed in the field of transfer studies, the book deals with the influence of the polymathic educational model developed at the University of Wittenberg on literature in the Czech lands in the second half of the 16th century. Besides a dialectical method, this model incorporated shared reading and literary practices and the imparting of specific knowledge about the created world, its operation and meanings. The author demonstrates how this knowledge transferred was altered in the process of cultural exchange and how it was adapted by literary communities writing in Latin, Czech and German. Special attention is paid also to new functions it fulfilled in the university and lower instruction and how this knowledge shaped period’s imageries, power relations and practices of social disciplining.
