The interview focuses first of all on Althusser’s conception of the epistemological break and his conception of science, ideology and philosophy. It then goes on to outline Althusser’s examination of his so-called theoreticist period, his relationship to psychoanalysis, Lacan, Hegel, Spinoza, Machiavelli, the conception of ideological state apparatuses and the relationship of Althusser’s philosophy to the Lacanian Real, Symbolic and Imaginary.
