Pomocné neboli asistivní technologie (AT) slouží ke zlepšení funkčních a duševních schopností osob se speciálními potřebami, jako jsou lidé v seniorském věku, lidé s chronickým onemocněním nebo lidé se zdravotním znevýhodněním. Ačkoliv možnosti, které těmto skupinám poskytují, nikdy nebyly větší, existuje řada výzev, které je v oblasti AT třeba překonat.
Ať již jde o nedostatečnou orientaci na seniorky a seniory, pro které je uživatelská náročnost AT příliš vysoká, či nezohlednění odlišných potřeb handicapovaných žen a mužů, výsledkem je nižší přínos AT pro populaci, ale i nárůst rizika sociálního vyloučení a prohlubování společenských nerovností. Bez zajištění účinného začlenění kritérií jako je věk, gender nebo handicap do vývojového procesu AT může být udržován status quo, který dále znevýhodňuje již znevýhodněné.


Assistive (AT) technologies are used to improve the functional and mental abilities of people with special needs, such as the elderly, people with chronic illnesses or people with disabilities. Although the opportunities they provide to these groups have never been greater, there are a number of challenges that need to be overcome in the field of AT. Whether it is insufficient orientation towards seniors, for whom the user demand of AT is too high, or failure to take into account the different needs of disabled women and men, the result is a lower benefit of AT for the population, but also an increased risk of social exclusion and deepening social inequalities. Without ensuring the effective integration of criteria such as age, gender or disability into the AT development process, the status quo can be maintained, which further disadvantages the already disadvantaged
