Cílem článku je poukázat na skutečnost, že lidé jsou jednak skupinoví tvorové, jednak mají tendenci vše kategorizovat. Spojení těchto dvou vlastností vede k tomu, že rozlišujeme mezi členy naší skupiny a „těmi druhými“, kteří mezi nás nepatří. Z evolučního hlediska má dělení My versus Oni nepochybně spoustu výhod. V moderním světě, kdy čelíme řadě globálních výzev, však může být spíše na škodu.

The aim of the article is to point out the fact that humans are both group creatures and people tend to categorize everything. The combination of these two qualities leads to a distinction between members of our group and „the others“ who do not belong to us. From an evolutionary point of view, the division of „ourselves versus the other“ undoubtedly has many advantages. However, in the modern world, where we face a number of global challenges, this can be a rather negative phenomenon.
