The Report of VERA project activity summarizes vertical coupling studies using satellite (SWARM) measurement and ground based measurement and effects of the Sudden Stratospheric Warming events (SSWs) on the ionosphere. The data are accompanied by empirical and physics-based models. Three topics are studied in detail, i.e. the response of interhemispheric field-aligned currents (IHFACs) to SSWs, response of the high-latitude ionosphere, and comparison of ionospheric response related to the geographic location.
