Monografie uvádá přehlednou formou aktuální informace týkající se antibiotické léčby z mnoha úhlů pohledu. Tyto byly zpracovány tak, aby usnadnily orientaci v oblasti jednotlivých antibiotických skupin a přípravků, bakteriálních infekcí a jejich adekvátní antibiotické léčby. Hlavní důraz je kladen na praktický medicínský pohle, tedy klinickou interpretaci výsledků mikrobiologických (především bakteriologických) vyšetření, nejdůležitější etiologická agens u nejčastějších komunitních i nozokomiálních infekcí a iniciální terapeutický přístup, resp. antibioterapii.

The textbook presents in an overview form up-to-date information concerning antibiotic treatment from any points of view. These have been designed to facilitate orientation in the field of individual antibiotic groups and drugs, bacterial infections and their adequate antibiotic treatment. The main emphasis is put on the practical medical view, the clinical interpretation of the results of microbiological (especially bacteriological) examinations, the most important etiologigal agents in the most common community and nosocomial infections and the initial therapeutic approach, respectively antibiotherapy.
