První část kapitoly je věnována základním pojmům Gadamerovy filosofické hermeneutiky se zvláštním přihlédnutím k pojmům rozumění, předsudku, dějinného vědomí, hermeneutického kruhu a pravdy. V druhé části textu porovnáváme Gadamerovu pozici s kontextualistickým přístupem převládajícím v anglosaském filosofickém prostředí. Ve třetí části se věnujeme významným kritikám Gadamerova přístupu (Habermas, Derrida).

The first part of the chapter is dedicated to the basic concepts of Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics with a special regard to the notions of understanding, prejudice, historical consciousness, the hermeneutic circle and truth. In the second part of the text, we compare Gadamer’s position with the contextualistic approaches prevailing in the Anglo-Saxon philosophical environment. In the third part, we deal with important critiques of Gadamer's approach (Habermas, Derrida).
