Biografický portrét představuje Jana Ohérala jako mimořádně nadaného publicistu a pronikavého politického a sociálního myslitele. Ohéral náležel mezi nejvýznamnější postavy veřejného života na Moravě v 19. století. Jako jeden z prvních u nás se soustavně zabýval otázkami průmyslového rozvoje i jeho sociálními konsekvencemi. Autor sleduje jeho veřejné aktivity, novinářskou kariéru a zdůrazňuje zejména význam jeho časopisu Moravia pro intelektuální život v předbřeznovém Brně.

The biographical portrait considers Ohéral to be one of the most significant publicist and profoundest political and social thinker in 19th-Moravia. Ohéral was one of the firsts in the Bohemian Lands who dealt systematically dealt with the question of the industrial development and its social consequences. The author presents Ohéralʼs public activities, follows his journalistic career and emphasizes namely the role of his periodical Moravia for the intellectual life in pre-March Brno.
