Euripidova tragédie Ion je zdánlivě apolitické dílo, vhodné k uvedení v době, kdy je divadelní umění omezováno cenzurními restrikcemi. Inscenace tohoto titulu v Národním divadle v době nacistické okupace r. 1944 dokazuje, jak tento nesprávný předpoklad negativně ovlivnil umělecký výsledek.

Euripides’ tragedy Ion looks as a seemingly apolitical title, suited to staging at a time when political circumstances restrict the composition of the theatre repertoire by many censorship rules. However, the production of this title at the National Theatre in 1944 shows how this wrong assumption and misapprehension of the play negatively influenced the result.
