Samotný název publikace Pod ochranou svatého Josefa. Příběh tesařského řemesla v českých zemích vystihuje snahu kolektivu autorů přiblížit tematickými příspěvky a doprovodným obrazovým materiálem nejen odborné, ale především široké veřejnosti dějiny a tradici tesařského řemesla. Kniha je strukturovaná jako kritický katalog, který obsahově navazuje na stejnojmennou výstavu zpřístupněnou v letošním roce v historickém objektu panské sýpky v areálu Dřevěného městečka Valašského muzea v přírodě, jež je součástí Národního muzea v přírodě se sídlem v Rožnově pod Radhoštěm. Vedle průvodních textů z výstavy, prezentovaného obrazového materiálu a předmětů reprezentujících tesařské řemeslo, zapůjčených ze sbírek paměťových institucí i rodinných pozůstalostí, tvoří významnou část publikace odborné příspěvky.

The title of the publication, Under the Protection of St. Joseph. The story of carpentry in the Czech lands, expresses the effort of the team of authors to present the history and tradition of the carpenter's craft to both the professional and general public through articles on the topic and accompanying pictures. The book is structured as a critical catalogue of an exhibition of the same name, located in the historical building of the manorial granary on the premises of the so-called Wooden Town of the Wallachian Open Air Museum, which is part of the National Open Air Museum of the Czech Republic with its registered office in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. In addition to the texts accompanying the exhibition, the presented images and objects representing carpentry – borrowed from the collections of heritage institutions as well as family heritage – a significant part of the publication consists of expert texts.
