An overview of selected topics related to the Ancient Near East as presented within the medium of the Czech/Czechoslovak comics of the 20th century with special attention given to a series Jáchym and the Printer’s Devil by Leo Pavlát and Věra Faltová. Drawing from comics pages, real-life sources for depicted objects (i. e. cuneiform tablets) are followed, analyzed and set into a broader historical and cultural context.
