The article presents interdisciplinary research of the 2nd fortified bailey of stronghold Levý Hradec (9th-11th century), including the discovery of a ditch and residues of an above-ground fortification. The stronghold followed a settlement of the 7th-8th century. Archaeological, anthropological, paleobotanical and chemical analyses enrich knowledge about the economic life of Levý Hradec and the social topography of its inhabitants. They provide information on dietary behavior of inhabitants, represent a range of cultivated crops, characterize the natural environment, and document the probable processing of silver.
