As the quality of drinking water resources decreases, water treatment is more difficult and requires extensive knowledge. The presented publication brings a detailed summary of the coagulation process frequently employed in drinking water treatment. The book is intended mainly for the professional public, including e.g. drinking water treatment plant operators, engineers, technicians, or academics and students of natural sciences. The newest information in the field of coagulation of the different types of impurities is provided. The authors emphasize the importance of optimizing coagulation conditions, including pH value and coagulant dosage in relation to reaching maximum efficiency of impurity removal, as well as mixing intensity and time for creating flocs with properties suitable for the subsequent separation processes (sedimentation, flotation and filtration).
