Stať se zabývá Máchovou básní O Muse, jež je všeobecně považována za jeho nejvyspělejší a možná poslední německou báseň. V návaznosti na předchozí stanoviska ji hodnotí jako nihilistickou báseň, v níž se Mácha rozchází s křesťanským světonázorem, ale tento soud zpřesňuje v tom smyslu, že se jedná o rozchod s osvícenským pojetím Boha jako tvůrce dokonalého světa a starostlivého Otce. Oproti dosavadnímu bádání formuluje dvě hypotézy. Za prvé hypotézu, že báseň je básní pohřební a že je básníkovým rozloučením s A. Klarem. Z toho, že by Klar byl pak adresátem dvou blahopřejných básní (City vděčnosti, Stimmen zur Namensfeier) a jedné pohřební básně, a z toho, že v básni Stimmen zum Namensfeier je označován za učitele, který ukázal autorovi, že jeho životní cestou je poezie, vyvozuje, že Klar sehrál v básníkově osobním vývoji mnohem významnější roli, než se obecně míní. Za druhé na základě srovnání Máchovy poetiky a poetiky básní Klarových antologií z roku 1822 a 1829 posiluje hypotézu, že Máchova poetika se utvářela původně v těsné závislosti na tomto druhu poezie, který mladému básníkovi osobně zprostředkoval A. Klar, ale nakonec dospěla do myšlenkové opozici vůči němu.

This paper focuses on Mácha’s poem O Muse, which is generally considered to be his most mature, and possibly his last, German poem. Based on previous standpoints it is also assessed as a nihilistic poem in which Mácha departs from a Christian world-view, but this conclusion is elaborated in the sense that it is a departure from the Enlightenment conception of God as the creator of a perfect world and a concerned Father. In contrast to previous research it formulates two hypotheses: firstly the theory that this is a funeral poem and that it is the poet’s farewell to A. Klar. The fact that Klar was thus the addressee of two congratulatory poems (City vděčnosti [Feelings of Gratitude] and Stimmen zur Namensfeier) and one funeral poem, and that he is described in Stimmen zum Namensfeier as the teacher who showed the author that poetry was to be his lifelong career, indicates that Klar played a much more prominent role in the poet’s personal development than is generally thought. Secondly, a comparison of Mácha’s poetics and those of the poems in Klar’s 1822 and 1829 anthologies bolsters the hypothesis that Mach’s poetics was originally formed in close dependence on this kind of poetry, which was personally mediated to the young poet by A. Klar, but finally came into intellectual opposition to him.
