The contribution explains the concept of a pre-industrial landscape. Its study and mapping currently runs in the historical territory of Moravia (Czech Republic). The process of identifying and mapping segments of the pre-industrial landscape is described in detail. The starting point is represented by the identification of small-scale parcels of agricultural land (or large-scale parcels around the estates) in the present color orthophotonap. This is followed by the verification of the occurrence of a similar land use structure before 1850 (the maps of stable cadastre). Current segment status is identified in the field. During the period of socialism, almost all land was nationalized (land integrated to large ropes). In fertile areas with a lot of arable land, the nationalization also affected large areas of land, but a certain amount was left in private hands. However, there often the arable land was changed into permanent crops, especially in the direct contact with the built-up area of the village.
