Článek popisuje koncepci ekologické infrastruktury krajiny, jak ji pojímají biologové, a její začlenění do českého práva. Vysvětluje příčiny fragmentace habitatu a roli přepravní infrastruktury v něm. Poté odhaluje typické kolize mezi ekologickou a přepravní infrastrukturou zastoupenou zejména silniční sítí, a zaměřuje se na zpracování sítě ekologické infrastruktury v územním plánování a na postupy při vyhodnocování ekologického dopadu, se zvláštním zřetelem na negativní dopady stavby silnic na fragmentaci krajiny a migraci živočichů.

The chapter firstly describes the concept of ecological infrastructure of landscape as it is explained by biologists and how it is built in the Czech law. It explains the causes of habitat fragmentation and the role of transport infrastructure in it. Then it uncovers typical collisions between the ecological and transport infrastructure represented especially by the road network and it focuses on reflecting the ecological infrastructure network in the territorial planning and environmental impact assessment processes, with a special regard to negative impacts of building roads on the landscape fragmentation and on migration of animals.
