TEATER je webový tezaurus obsahující archeologickou terminologii. Účelem TEATERu je zpřístupnit ji ve formě interaktivního rozhraní především následujícím skupinám uživatelů: knihovníkům, kteří zpracovávají archeologické informační zdroje, uživatelům knihoven s archeologickými fondy, kteří naopak chtějí tuto literaturu vyhledávat, začínajícím studentům archeologie, zájemcům o archeologii z řad laické veřejnosti. Díky důrazu na použití v oblasti knihovnictví je tezaurus tvořen částečně předmětovými hesly národních autorit NK ČR spolu s dalšími odbornými termíny, které se v rejstříku národních autorit nenachází. Tezaurus obsahuje také hesla z příbuzných oborů a dalších pomocně-historických kategorií. Hesla v tezauru jsou doplněna o referenční informace - např. anglické a německé (v přípravě) ekvivalenty, výňatky z literatury a odkazy - a jsou uspořádána hierarchicky. Celou strukturou tezauru lze volně procházet, alternativně je možné hesla full-textově vyhledávat. TEATER nabízí uživatelům alternativu k cizojazyčným archeologickým slovníkům.

TEATER is a web thesaurus containing archaeological terminology. The purpose of TEATER is to make archaeological terminology available through interactive interface especially to the following groups of users: to the librarians, which are indexing archaeological information sources, to the users of libraries with the archaeological funds, which on the opposite want to search this kind of sources, to the beginning students in the field of archaeology, to the those from the lay public interested in the archaeology. With the emphasis on using in the librarianship, area TEATER contains subject headings from the national authorities of Národní knihovna ČR along with other specialized terms, which are not to be found in the register of national authorities. Thesaurus also contains the entries from related fields and other auxiliary-historical categories. The entries in the thesaurus are supplemented with referential information – for example, english and german (in the process of preparation) equivalents, extracts from archaeological handbook and encyclopedic literature and hyperlinks – and are put in the hierarchical order. Users can browse through the hierarchical structure or they can alternatively full-text search the entries in the thesaurus. TEATER can be view as an alternative to foreign-languages archaeological vocabularies.
