This book summarizes the main achievements of the Biorefinery Research Centre of Competence project. This project was focused on the transformation of biomass into high value-added products. Employing techniques of green chemistry, new generation biofuels, food supplements, fodder and fertilizers can be obtained. New technologies for isolating valuable substances from agricultural products or waste of plant and animal origin are presented. Biorefining is a new sustainable approach minimizing adverse effects of chemical industry on the environment and utulizing the whole volume of biomass.
