An all-in-one approach for the simultaneous determination of exact blood volume in the DBS punch and the quantitation of target analytes is presented. The capillary blood volume in a DBS eluate is calculated from the concentrations of the inorganic blood constituents (K+, Na+, or Cl−) and is used for exact quantification of target analytes (amino acids), which are all determined in a single analysis by capillary electrophoresis with contactless conductivity detection.
