We report on microdroplet barcoding by photon-upconversion nanoparticles. Photon-upconversion nanoparticles are luminiscent nanoparticles with typical excitation at 980 nm and emit wavelenghts from ultraviolet to near-infrared region. We report on instrumentation, discuss the accuracy and precision of photon-upconversion barcode and show its practical use for microdroplet barcoding.
