Here we present recent activities of IoP CAS (Institute of Physics Czech Academy of Sciences) in the field of diamond bioapplications. The short review will include antibacterial and tissue engineering studies of carbon materials (such as nanodiamonds, diamond films, and graphene and graphene oxide films) and proof-of-concept studies of diamond-based biosensors. The variety of diamond surface chemistry allowed us to obtain deeper understanding of interactions with the surrounding environment in terms of physical effects, charge transfer, cell, and microbiological effects.
