První příspěvky českých a slovenských vědců k rozvoji teoretické a instrumentální analytické elektroforézy se objevily v 60. letech 20. století. Počátky vývoje této metody na Ústavu analytické chemie Československé akademie věd v Brně spadají do počátku 70. let, když byl zkonstruován laboratorní přístroj. I po rozdělení Československa pokračovaly práce v teorii a metodologii kapilární izotachoforézy a zónové elektroforézy, jejich kombinaci, vazbě na hmotnostní spektrometrii a praktickém použití. Tato skupina získala mezinárodní renomé a byla označována jako Brněnská elektroforetická škola. Tento článek přináší informace o hlavních výzkumných cílech této školy.

The first contributions of Czech and Slovak scientists to the development of the theory and instrumentation of analytical electrophoresis appeared in the 1960s. The beginnings of the development of this method at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Brno date back to the early 1970s, when a lab-made apparatus was constructed. Since then, even after the splitting of Czechoslovakia, much work has been done there on the theory and methodology of capillary isotachophoresis and zone electrophoresis, their combination, linkage with mass spectrometry, and practical application. This laboratory has gained international renown and it was called the Brno Electrophoretic School. This article provides information on this school’s main research topics.
