Kniha se zabývá bojem o České Budějovice v letech 1618-1619, kdy protagonisté českého stavovského povstání neúspěšně usilovali o ovládnutí strategicky významného města v jižních Čechách. Výsledek kampaně předznamenal porážku vzbouřených stavů a patří k významným mezníkům počáteční fáze třicetileté války.

The book deals with the fight for České Budějovice in the years 1618-1619, when the protagonists of the Bohemian Revolt unsuccessfully struggled for take control over the strategically important city in South Bohemia. The result of the campaign foreshadowed the defeat of the rebellious estates and is one of the important milestones of the initial phase of the Thirty Years’ War.
